Hello Friends!

Hope all is well with you and yours. It’s been a few months since the last official newsletter but as usual I’ve been busy making music. There are new recordings, new songs to come, and even a video, so let’s get to the news:

I have recently completed a second song for my upcoming country cd with co-writer, guitarist and producer Jeffery Marshall called You Can’t Unpull A Trigger, and I’m super proud of this one. Jeff and the guys created a kick-ass track that you will want to turn up to 11 ;-) Once again Andrew Megna played drums and Kevin Chown added bass, Bryan Dobbs, who you last heard on my song Memory Lane, played both banjo and dobro, and Clayton Severson added killer harmonica and backup vocals. I am so lucky and grateful to get to work with such talented guys. Jeff and I have a few more songs in the works for the EP and I’m hoping to release it later this year. In the meantime let me know what you think of You Can’t Unpull A Trigger!

You may remember in my last newsletter that guitarist John DePatie, pianist Forrest Powell, and I completed a song that needed to sound like it was written and recorded in the 1920/30’s for a music production library and we came up with He’s Gone. Well, we are working on another one and I find it highly enjoyable trying to create music that sounds like it’s from another era. I’ll keep you posted on when you can hear it but all I can say at the moment is, it involves a train. So, sticking with the "songs from another era" theme I am also recording some gospel spirituals, which were written before 1922. The first two songs we are working on are Ain’t That Good News and Down By The Riverside. Working on these songs with me will be John, Forrest, Jeff and Arnold Robia. Another song that was recorded since my last note to you is the classical piece Pie Jesu. It has been many years since I sang anything classical and in Latin no less! Forrest asked me to sing to the beautiful music track he was producing and it was both challenging and rewarding. Did I mention it was in Latin?!?!

Meanwhile, back in the world of modern music I recently had the honor of co-writing a song called Halfway To Heaven with Michael ONeill. Michael is a multi-talented and prolific singer/songwriter who has worked with a who’s who of artists across several genres of music. He’s also a master tunesmith and hell of a nice guy, so for me it was a very inspiring writing session. Michael is currently touring in support of his latest CD I Like It Like That. I hope you will give him a listen. I'll keep you posted on when you can hear Halfway To Heaven.

Lately, I’ve been receiving some very supportive radio play from stations that played my Christmas song, Please Come Home For Christmas, over the holidays and then picked up my Good As Gone CD and have been playing it for the last few months. I can’t tell you what an amazing feeling it has been to have a CD that you put your heart and soul into, and that has been out for several years, see new interest and find a new audience, not just for me but for everyone who worked so hard on it. I wanted to mention a few of these stations, as they all are available for you to listen to via the web and I hope you will check them out. Chris Duval at www.SplashRadio.org out of the UK has been amazing, playing something from the CD on many of his weekly shows and even naming Good As Gone as their CD of the Month. Frank Coon of www.HoundDogRadio.net has been a supporter all the way back to the first CD, Rustic Heart. Finally, an extra big thanks to Wayne Blackwell out of New Zealand who has put the CD on stations there and in the states including www.Blenz.co.nz and www.HotMix106.com and tells me there are more to come. If that wasn’t enough, Wayne just created a music video for my song Sounds Like Rain. I’m floored and so grateful that he would take the time to do that. I hope you will give it a view! Huge thanks, to all the stations that continue to support me, it is greatly appreciated!

As always your support is greatly appreciated. Nobody could do all this alone and as I said, I've been especially blessed by my amazing players who I am also lucky to call my friends, so I hope you will check out their websites and show them some love! All my singles and cds are available at iTunesCDBaby, and other legit music sites. Please be sure to leave me a rating or review as this will increase my chances of having my music discovered by others. Here's the link to my Facebook Music Page if you'd like to join me there. Debbie
