Debbie's Music News - Concerts, Interviews, & Contests - Sept. 2017

Hi kids!

I hope you are all having a wonderful summer. It's been way too hot here in La La Land this last week but looks like it will get back to something resembling normal this week. It also appears fire fighters have gotten the upper hand on one of the largest fires ever to hit the center of the LA Basin and we are all grateful for that. The constant stream of natural and man made disasters takes a toll on us all and music is one way to find some joy and sometimes raise a little money to help those in need - see below. So let's get to the news!

The Blue Mountain Review/Southern Collective Experience - I just had the pleasure of being interviewed for the latest issue of The Blue Mountain Review (Issue 8) regarding my music and songwriting process, especially lyrics. I love this magazine. It celebrates all forms of art from all over the world and in particular the written word. The magazine is just one of the projects from The Southern Collective Experience founded by award-winning writer and poet Charles Clifford Brooks III

West Coast Songwriters ContestThe song Whiskey Charm, written by me and Jeffery Marshall, just received an Honorable Mention in the 2017 West Coast Songwriters International Song Contest. Ours was one of only two songs in the Country Category after the winning entry. Whiskey Charm is one of my favorites from the No Longer Broken cd and I hope to have a music video to go with it later this fall.

Saturday, Sept. 16th, 5-10pm The Saturday Evening Social Club. I've wanted to play one of these wonderful house concerts hosted by the multi-talented Lauren Adams for the last couple of years and I am very excited to finally be able to do so. I will be opening the show with John DePatie and Carla Buffa joining me. Lauren's band, with Nick Kirgo, will be playing that night as will Spork & Foon featuring Marty Axelrod, Ed Tree, Mark Pocket Goldberg, and Debra Dobkin. There will be lots of wonderful food and conversation with the artists and other guests, and you may BYOB, and a dish to share, a grill is provided as well. To reserve your spot please send an email to saturdayeveningsocialclub@gmail.com and join the event on FB: The Saturday Evening Social Club for all the latest info.

Sunday, Sept. 17, 7:30pm and Tuesday, Sept. 26, 7:30pm Benefit Concerts for Hurricane Harvey - I'm working with bookers Jay Tinskey and Robin Dewey, along with Shayna Fiore on two Hurricane Harvey Relief Benefit Concerts to be held here in LA with over 20 artists at each event, silent auction with some amazing items, and lots more. The three charities that will benefit are The Greater Houston Community Foundation and Best Friends Animal Rescue. I will be performing a song at each event as well. $10 suggested donation at the door but any amount is welcome and we will have a way for people to donate even if you can't make the event. Please RSVP to the FB events: https://www.facebook.com/events/119116592149236/ & https://www.facebook.com/events/374646609619195/

KBJB Radio/Original Artist Spotlight - In July I was interviewed by Buck Whiteway on his show, Original Artist Spotlight, on KBJB Radio out of my home state of Connecticut. We had a great time and you may listen to the interview on my website here: KBJB Radio Interview.

More events are coming but that's all the news for now. No Longer Broken is available at iTunes and CD Baby, physical copies of the cd are available at CD Baby where you can actually speak to a real person here in the US by calling 1-800-Buy-My-CD! Don't forget to leave a rating or short review wherever you purchase or listen to my music as it greatly increases the chances of my music being discovered by others. Here is the link to my Facebook Music Page if you'd like to join me there. Be sure to choose "get notifications" if you do, so you don't miss anything. I've been more active on my Twitter page and be sure to subscribe to my YouTube page as well.

As always, I am so very grateful for your support.
